Biography

Sean is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with significant experience in process design, commissioning and troubleshooting. He started his career with international process engineering contractors, and worked worldwide on projects in the water and pharmaceutical industries before setting up his own consultancy in 1996.

As well as engineering and consultancy services, Sean is an experienced Expert Witness and and has served on the UK Institution of Chemical Engineers Water Subject Group Committee. He has been working as a process designer and commissioning engineer for water and effluent treatment plants for twenty years, the last fifteen of these in private practice.

Sean has been carrying out the professional training of engineers in the UK and Gulf region for his whole career, but more frequently since the turn of the century. He started working in UK universities in 2009, with a focus on increasing industrial relevance of courses and work-readiness of students, and achieved his PGCHE and HEA fellowship in 2011.

Expertise Summary

In his professional engineering practice Sean is an expert in the design, construction, commissioning and troubleshooting of water and effluent treatment plants of all kinds, and his teaching and training activities tend to centre around his professional expertise.

Teaching Summary

Sean is interested in increasing the industrial relevance of, and embedding the teaching of safety issues into Chemical and Environmental Engineering courses.
