Few would disagree that postgraduate study should be stimulating, challenging and ultimately rewarding. Of course, achieving these goals depends on two basic factors: the subject you select and the calibre of your university.

On these criteria alone the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is the right place to choose. Engineering at The University of Nottingham is widely recognised as world-class. This fact is borne out by the high standard of our research and the extensive funding it attracts - overall research awards recently topped £80m.

Our aim is to provide ideal conditions for both unrestricted 'what if' thinking and real-world problem solving. In doing so we collaborate with industry and academic institutions from around the globe. Equally, the high standards the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering comes from having excellent teaching staff and facilities, not to mention attracting the best postgraduates!

We are most definitely a research-led university, and that means postgraduate students really do enjoy a pivotal role in forging new ideas and technologies. I feel sure you'll find we're the kind of Department to make your postgraduate study more stimulating, and more rewarding in every sense.

The Department offers advanced research programmes leading to PhD, MPhil or MRes in addition to nine MSc courses and a 1 Year Pre Masters Course. Advanced research degrees are available in any of the Department's's principal research areas - solid state devices, electromagnetics and modeling, electrical drives, and instrumentation sensors and systems.
